Walking the path of the Wall, Gilsland is nearest to Milecastle 48, alongside The Poltross Burn. Follow the road under the Railway Bridge take the second turning on the right Sign posted Irthing Park The Hollies B&B is the first house on the right, From Milecastle 48a turn left into the village follow the road down to the T junction (the Bridge inn) follow the road up through the village, Third turning on the left on to Irthing Park and The Hollies is on your Right.
From the West, along the A69 turn off to the left at the sign for Gilsland, Spadeadam follow the course of the road until you reach the village (about 2 miles), at the T Junction turn right (next to The Bridge Inn), following the road up through the village, Third turning on the left onto Irthing Park The Hollies B&B is on the Right.
From the East, turn Right off the A69 for Greenhead then Left for , Gilsland , follow the B6318 into the village for about 3 miles go under the Railway Bridge and take the second turning on the right onto Irthing Park then an Immediate right into The Hollies B&B.
